Mighty Jets set for NNL Super Eight qualification

Mighty Jets of Jos are on the verge of qualifying for the Nigeria National League Super Eight playoffs.

The Jets as they are fondly called are currently leading the Northern Conference Group A1 with 15 points after their 0-1 loss against ABS FC of Ilorin.

With three wins from their last eight matches, Jets needs just six points to join Katsina United in the NNL playoff or secure four points and expect ABS and EFCC to at least lose a match in their remaining two matches to go .

Mighty Jets were relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League in 2004 after over a decade in the top flight Nigeria football league.

Jet will play home to Kogi United at the New Jos Stadium on Saturday before travelling to Abuja to face 2^nd placed EFCC in a week time in the last league match of the season.

Speaking exclusively to EAGLE EYE SPORTS24,Jet captain,Mohammed Alkassim,said that Jets will surely qualify for the Super 8 qualification to determine the four teams for the Nigeria Premier Football League.

“By the grace of God we shall qualify for the Super 8 which will help qualify for the premier league”,he said.

Eagle Eye News24 reports that Mighty Jets of Jos have remained in the lower league for over two decades despite struggling to qualify for the Nigerian elite football league in the 2004 season but they were relegated same year with another Jos base side Plateau United.

Recall that Jet is one of Nigeria’s greatest side with 10 losses in the Nigerian Federation Cup final without winning the trophy.

The Nigerian National League is the second tier of Club football in Nigeria and it is currently sub grouped amongst northern and southerthern teams to determine the best 8 teams for a super league which will eventually produce four teams for the premier league.
