Group laud Gov. Mutfwang over apology on Igbo, calls on Gen. Gowon to formally apologize to Igbos

A group under the aegis of Global Center for Media and Human Empowerment (GCMHE), has commended the Governor of Plateau State,Caleb Mutfwang,for what it described as his courageous and righteous move to apologize to the Igbo.
In a statement signed by it’s Executive Director,Charles Ejoh the human rights and interventionists group said Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s statement demonstrated righteous leadership and reflected the concerns of millions of Igbo worldwide who have continue to bemoan the lack of government empathy since after the civil war.
According to GCMHE,the governor’s remarks should not be politicize or seen as maligning anyone but a ” sincere and sensitive move aim at further cementing the long standing relationship between the Igbos and Plateau State.
The rights group stated that Gov.Mutfwang has spoken the minds of millions of law abiding Igbo both in Nigeria and the diaspora who have endured the trauma of the effect of the civil war between 1966-70.
“It’s a painful reality that despite the so called reconciliatory moves by the progenitor of that war Gen.Yakubu Gowon,the Igbo have continued to experience marginalisation in Nigeria”,the statement read.
However, GCMHE cautioned against all those castigating the governor’s statement and trying to raise resentment on the good people of Plateau State.
“ We call on all those trying to fan the embers of disunity to desist from such acts or face the wrath of peace loving Nigerians.
The governor has spoken for the sake and harmony of Plateau State.
He understands what it takes to unite people.We as a group may not necessarily be in tandem with the governing style of Gov.Mutfwang but on this matter we sincerely commend him ,” the group said.
The group hailed Governor Mutfwang for recognizing the contribution of the Igbo in Plateau State.
The group also called on Gen.Yakubu Gowon to publicly and formally apologized to the Igbos for what it described as unjust genocide on the south east during the civil war Gowon led.
“We are calling on Gowon to publicly and formally apologized for allowing himself to be used by the Fulani hegemony to annihilate the Igbos.It was even on good authority that Gowon was almost coerced to become a Muslim if he is to remain in power for for God’s timely intervention he remained in the faith.
Gowon was inexperienced with little formal education and he was I’ll informed.He can’t continue to live in self denial.Do you know that it took the timely intervention of technology for Gowon to admit that he is the father of his son,he denied paternity of Musa Gowon,a son out of wedlock during an affair with an Igbo woman for many years”.
Eagle Eye News24 reports that former Nigeria Head of State Yakubu Gowon denied the paternity of Musa Gowon for 48 years following a relationship with late public relations executive Edith Ike-Okongwu. A DNA test in March 2016 conclusively confirmed he was the biological father, leading Gowon to publicly accept him.
