ADCA Endorses James Yakubu as Consensus Candidate for 2027 Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency Election

JOS, NIGERIA — The Anaguta Development and Cultural Association (ADCA) has officially endorsed Hon. James Yakubu of the NDC as its consensus candidate for the Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision followed the submission of the final report by the Anaguta Mediation and Arbitration Committee to the Anaguta Traditional Council at the mini-conference hall of His Majesty, the Ujah Anaguta. The committee, which was inaugurated on December 16, 2024, by the traditional ruler, was tasked with resolving disputes and selecting a single candidate from the pool of aspirants to prevent political fragmentation within the ethnic nationality.

The Zoning Formula and Findings
According to a statement released by the ADCA National Public Relations Officer, Comr. D.M. Agudu, the committee anchored its decision on the principle of zoning. This structural mechanism is enshrined on page 31 of the ADCA National Constitution and was widely accepted by various Anaguta districts visited during a consultation tour.
Before arriving at the choice of Yakubu, the committee screened multiple aspirants and established five core findings:
All competing aspirants are indigenous sons of the Anaguta nation.
Every candidate successfully identified the core socio-political problems affecting the kingdom.
All aspirants pledged total loyalty to the Ujah Anaguta.
The contenders formally agreed to support whoever emerged as the recommended candidate, provided a genuine rationale was given.

There was a unanimous consensus among the aspirants that only one candidate should represent the community.

The Association declared that while the selection of Hon. James Yakubu secures a unified front for the Anaguta people, the committee stressed that the nomination is for onward presentation to other ethnic nationalities that form the heterogeneous Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency.

Eagle Eye News24 reports that in order to ensure long-term political stability and fairness, the committee recommended that the zoning arrangement be strictly respected in all future political appointments and elective offices.
Receiving the report, the ADCA National President, Hon. Dr. D.B. Garba, alongside the leadership of the Anaguta Traditional Council, expressed satisfaction with the process. They pledged to present the final resolutions to His Majesty, the Ujah Anaguta, who will direct the community on the next strategic political steps.

This medium gathered that as a call to foster a unify bond,the association urged all community members to remain united during what it described as a “trying moment” and explicitly advised the public to disregard any parallel political reports or counter-claims issued by unauthorized individuals or groups outside the officially constituted mediation committee.
