Enugu Gov, Peter Mbah Mourns Ex-Foreign Affairs Minister

The Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has expressed sorrow over the passing of Nigeria’s former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dubem Onyia, describing his death as a monumental loss to the nation.

In a statement personally signed by the Governor on Tuesday morning, Mbah noted that Onyia dedicated his life to serving the Ngwo community, Enugu State, and Nigeria as a whole.

He emphasized that Onyia’s vast experience, knowledge, and extensive national and international networks would be greatly missed.

The Governor further described the late statesman as a distinguished leader, consummate public servant, and patriot who devoted his entire career to the service of his people and the nation in various capacities.

Dubem Onyia, a former member of the House of Representatives, served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs from 1999 to 2003 under the President Olusegun Obasanjo administration.

Eagle Eye News24 gathered that the ex Minister passed away at an Abuja hospital on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the age of 73, following a brief illness.
