As part of activities marking its 20th anniversary, foremost media outlet Eagle Eye Watch News (EEWN) hosted nearly 40 secondary school students from across Jos, Plateau State, for an intensive student mentorship programme and facility tour at its regional headquarters.
The students, drawn from the Random Educational Tutorials centre, were accompanied by five of their instructors for the educational session, which aimed to inspire and equip the next generation of media professionals and civic leaders.
The event, coordinated by EEWN team member George Palek, provided the participants with firsthand exposure to mainstream media operations and critical life-success strategies.Delivering the media masterclass, the Executive Director of Eagle Eye Watch News, Charles Ejoh, demystified newsroom operations, detailed the organizational structure of media houses, and explained the entry requirements and core ethical attributes required of a professional journalist.
Drawing from the 20-year history of Eagle Eye Watch News and its resilience in overcoming operational challenges, Mr Ejoh charged the students to adopt five essential pillars for life and career success: vision, diligence, discipline, perseverance, and determination.”To achieve greatness, you must give your absolute best,” Ejoh stated, referencing timeless principles of hard work. “Diligence ensures you stand before kings and not ordinary men. You must remain disciplined, reject laziness, and possess an unshakeable resolve to never fail, much like the perseverance demonstrated by historic leaders like Abraham Lincoln.”Following the lecture, the students were taken on a guided tour of the station’s facilities to gain practical knowledge of modern media production.
The participants also received archived educational copies of the Eagle Eye Watch newspaper and were treated to refreshments.
The event concluded with a final benediction by the Executive Director, who blessed the students and challenged them to strive for academic and professional excellence.
The Management of the Media House expressed gratitude to the leadership of Random Educational Tutorial Center for partnering with the media firm to foster youth development and media literacy in Plateau State.
