NPFL Wk 7:How Lobi defeated Dakkada to go top of Group B

Lobi Stars maintained its top position on the Nigerian Premier Football League(Group B)  on Sunday at their adopted home ground of the New Jos Stadium.

The Makurdi based team lived up to expectation with a scintillating performance against Dakkada F.C by defeating the Uyo based side by 2 goals to 1,with first-half and second-half goals from Joseph Atule and Kumaga Suur, gave the home side the much-needed three points and extended their unbeaten run in the league to six games.

A consolidatory goal by Dakkada’s A.Lasisi in the 53rd minute was not enough for the away team to gain a draw.The victory for Lobi Stars put them at 16 points in 7 games while Dakkada remained at the bottom with 4 points .

The match was watched by a sparsely crowd due to poor publicity but had all the trappings of a premier league match as both teams tried to impress their fans.One of the features of the game was the 2nd half penalty missed by Lobi’s  danger man Joseph Atule to the dismay of spectators despite protest by the away side that resulted in the center referee to issue a yellow card to Dakkada’s player.

Speaking exclusively to EAGLE EYE SPORTS24,Lobi’s marks man,Joseph Atule,said though they struggled to get the needed victory despite the team failing to play according to the coach standard. .

“The game was a nice game,we struggled to play to our coach expectation but we thank God for the victory.We are going for the next game seriously against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi on Wednesday and by God’s grace we will win”.

Meanwhile, Rivers United’s game with Bayelsa United was postponed due to the continental assignment of the Pride of Rivers there by leaving them at the 3rd position behind Abia Warriors who are now 2nd position .

At Enugu, Chidera Ezeh’s 38th-minute spot-kick against Doma United handed Enugu Rangers their second league win of the season

Meanwhile, the presence of Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro was another exciting moment for Sunshine Stars’ fans who defeated Niger Tornadoes 2-0 at the Akure Township Stadium.

Two first-half strikes from Udom Ekerette and Samson Olasupo gave the Olumide Agoye-led side their second consecutive win.

Another match that was earlier played at the Enyimba International Stadium,Aba, Abia Warriors drew 1-1 at home to struggling Wikki Tourist of Bauchi.Abia Warrior’s were not able to hold on to J.Peter’s 29th minute goal as A.Abdulsalam’s  87th minute goal secured a vital away point for the visitors.
