Following the recent swearing-in of the 17 Local Government Council Chairmen in Plateau State last Monday in Jos. Stakeholders and the civil society have condemned the Plateau State government over the LGC Polls describing it as a sham and waste of public funds.

Speaking on this development Edward C.O , an activist described  the whole exercise as a “tale by moon light” ,saying it was a day light robbery orchestrated by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission(PLASIEC).

He said that the LGC elections conducted by PLASIEC is another attempt by the Gov.Simon Lalong led APC administration in the state to enslave and impoverished the  good people of Plateau State by foisting on them unpopular  chairmen against their choices.

“The just concluded LGC Polls which culminated into the swearing-in of the 17 LGC Chairmen in Plateau State is another systematic way by the APC to further impoverished and en slave the good people of Plateau State by foisting on them unpopular candidates of their choices”.

Comrade Edward called for an outright cancellation of the whole exercise and order for  a free and fair elections in the state which will encompass all political parties, adding that ”it was a rape on democracy in the state”.

Meanwhile, some notable PDP Stalwarts in the state have also added their voices on the charade describing it as ‘selection’ of LGC Chairmen.

Reacting on this development in the state, Plateau State Vice-Chairman,North of the PDP,Hon.Davou Mang a former Commissioner of Finance said that ”as for me the whole process was just selection not an election due to the exclusion of the PDP. Although we are still in court and we believe that the judiciary will do the needful.”

Hon.Mang assured the good People of Plateau State that their redemption will come through the PDP, saying that the zero turn-out of electorates at the just concluded LGC Polls due to the exclusion of the PDP is a clear indication of the PDP’s acceptance in the state.

“It shows you that Plateau State is PDP and the people need to sit at home as a form of protest. The exercise was not ‘democratic’, it was at best a selection exercise. So the PDP is still solidly on ground”.

He urged the PDP supporters not to relent that it was just a temporary set- back.

In the same vein the former Commissioner for Works in Plateau State,Hon Solomon Zang, a faithful PDP stalwart also gave a swipe on the LGC polls, saying that the elections was a sham.

“The state government wanted to have its way, so they intentionally refused to sell forms to anybody, so they just did it their own way. They know they can’t win the election in a free and fair contest. Can’t you see the poor turn—out?”,he queried.

Hon Zang added that come 2023 elections in the state the APC should forget it.

Meanwhile, another dogged PDP chieftain in the state, Hon.David Racha,a former LGC chairman in Bassa LGA told the EAGLE EYE WATCH exclusively that the polls was a stage managed exercise in the state.

In his words:”You can see the voter apathy which was a clear statement itself. It was a referendum by the ruling party knowing full well that the presence of the PDP would have changed the course of the election”.

Recall that the PDP was excluded from participating at the just concluded LGC polls in Plateau State due to court judgment as a result of the PDP internal wrangling.
