NPFL Wk 6: Katsina United force Plateau United to a barren Draw

The match between Katsina United and Plateau United in the Nigeria Professional Football League ended goalless on Saturday being the first match to be played in the week six fixture due to the live coverage of the game .
The match day six fixture, played at the Muhammed Dikko Stadium in Katsina had both sides creating chances but couldn’t convert to goals.
The home side, Katsina United, were hoping to return to winning ways after their 1-0 loss to Nasarawa United in Lafia on matchday 5 but didn’t do enough to get maximum points from the former league champions.
In the early minutes of the match, Rasheed Ahmed had a chance to score for the hosts but fired wide. Moments later, the visitors had a goal attempt when Mohammed Zukifilu fired from way out but was stopped by goalkeeper Yusuf Mohammed.
Coach Abdul Maikaba’s team had another opportunity in the 37th minute when Isah Ndala shot from a distance, again, goalkeeper Mohammed produced a fine save to keep Katsina United in the game.
The game remained goalless at half-time and when play resumed in the second-half, both sides very economical in their approach and created less chances to produce a win.
The result means Katsina United is winless in three games now, recording just two wins in six matches while Plateau United recorded their second away barren draw,the first being against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi and two home wins against Heart Land of Owerri and Adamawa United respectively.
The result put Plateau United in the 6th position with 8 points from six games.
Speaking exclusively to EAGLE EYE WATCH on the outcome of the match in Katsina, Plateau United utility player Amos Gyang said that they would have sealed victory early in the first half but fate wasn’t on their side but commended their host for a good fight.
Adding, Plateau United will by God’s grace secure victory in their next home game against Nassarawa United on match day7 in Jos.
”We had a good match and we would have sealed the game in the first half but against Nassarawa United in our next home match by God’s grace victory will be ours”.
