The Councilor representing Vanderpuye Ward, and deputy leader Jos North LGC,Plateau State, Rt.Hon.Uzoma Okoro, says, members of the Legislative arm were able to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged in the Local Government Area.
“We were able to distribute bags of rice to some widows,I rehabilitated bore holes and distributed educational materials to three major schools in Jos North in order to assist the education of students”
Hon.Uzoma Okoro, recently bared his admiration for the governor of Plateau State,His Excellency Bar Caleb Mutfwang for his giant developmental strides in the state,he spoke on Saturday morning when he appeared as a guest on Eagle Eye News24 flagship programme:Nigeria Today.
“Gov.Caleb Mutfwang is a man that fears God,when you move to every nook and cranny of Plateau State,he has turned it into a construction site.
In terms of development it’s unprecedented.I want to give kudos to him.May God continue to bless him.
Your Excellency, keep doing the good work,we are feeling it”.
Responding on the issue of Igbo presidency, the business man cum politician, said:
“Absolutely sure,I am a man that respects tradition and from my origin we don’t claim any other place of origin.I am an Igbo man, categorically the time is ripe for an Igbo presidency. If Nigerians will think about it and give an Igbo man the chance to become the president,Nigeria will become a sweet haven.God has embedded wisdom in an Igbo man in commerce etc ,however, party is supreme.
Asked about the Local Government Autonomy,he, said :
“The Supreme Court has given it’s verdict on the autonomy of the third tier of government but implementation is another thing.
One of the problems we have in Nigeria is that of implementation but so far so good,I will not say I am totally satisfy with the level of autonomy of the Local Government in Nigeria.
Whenever we go on the the streets people tend to tell us that we have received financial autonomy and they tend to expect so much from us.
I will advise that the Federal Government to have a stand on this matter so that we know the direction the LG is heading towards and when the LG has full autonomy,Nigeria will be a better place”.
The lawmaker also seized the opportunity to call on the president Bola Tinubu to ensure that the Local Government Autonomy is fully implemented.
“Mr. President,His Excellency Sen.Bola Ahmed Tinubu, should ensure that the LG Autonomy is fully implemented because when this is done,he himself will find it easier to govern”,he emphasized .
