Heavy wind, rainfall wreak havoc in Jos community

Severe damage has been reported in the Ameh Close , Rock Haven community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, as heavy winds and rainfall caused significant destruction.

The roofs of several buildings were blown off, and residents have reported extensive losses to both property and household valuables.

One resident Mrs Ifeoma Iwuala,, described the damage to her home, saying, “The rain and heavy wind did so much damage to my house. My properties were also affected by the wind.”
Adding that:”I was at the church at about 6.10pm on Thursday when I got the information that a part of my roof top has been blown over by heavy wind.Some members of my church quickly rush over to my house to assist because my husband was left alone at home who has been experiencing health challenge before I arrived.I have called my landlord to see the level of damages because we couldn’t sleep last night as the rains pour heavily”‘ she shared her ordeal .

Eagle Eye News24 reports that the wind also partially brought down the electric poll that supplies electricity to many houses.

Speaking on this development,a resident of the affected area,Ejoh Charles,said:’I had to notify a staff of the Jos Electricity Distribution Company to alert his company not to restore power yet due to the destruction of the electric pole”.

Ejoh also used the medium to appeal to JEDC to quickly come to the rescue of the community so that the damage cables and pole can be restored .

Our reporter gathered that as at press time the Ameh Close,Rock Haven Community is in total black out.
