The President of Kefiano Global Foundation,a Non-Governmental Organisation,Chief Kefas Ropshik, has canvassed for the inclusion of Igbos into the mainstream of governance in Plateau State.
The business man cum philanthropist made this call during this year’s Annual Iriji Ndigbo New Yam Festival held in Jos,Plateau State.
Ropshik, also lauded the peaceful and industrious disposition of the Igbo in Nigeria despite the fragment of civil disturbance in some parts of the South East.
“I want to reiterate that the Igbo people are one of the most peaceful people residing on the Plateau.
I’m not saying this statement because I want to patronize you.I’m saying this because there is no where you go to stay that you will not find the Igbos.
They have properties in any where they reside. If they are not people of peaceful disposition they will not have properties in these places. It’s also the same on the Plateau.
“I recall a former governor once said that of all the Certificate of Occupancy(C of O’s)he signed over 60% of the land titles belong to the Igbos”.
Chief Ropshik further added that the Igbo have truly identified with the people of Plateau State.
The philanthropist also went memory lane, saying”during the period of crisis in the state, Igbos are one of the tribes that have not given us problem”.
He said that he will continually identify with the Igbos .
“I want to identify with the Igbos.I am a private business man.Infact,my Igbo name is Chukwuemeka.
For me I will want to encourage my fellow Plateau people to venture into the private sector”,he said.
The businessman also used the occasion to canvassed for the inclusion of Igbos into the government of Plateau State.
“I want to use this forum to appeal to the governor of Plateau State,Barr.Caleb Mutfwang, ably represented by one his commissioners, to at least appoint someone from the Igbo extraction into his cabinet.
I believe that it’s do able”.
Ropshik ended his speech with his own financial donation of three million naira for the event.
