“We have been building storey buildings. There is nothing new,we have been constructing safe buildings but just as I have said somebody failed to carry his responsibility which resulted to this calamity.
Our job is to investigate, identify the causes for the building collapse”.
Engr.Duna, added that the Honourable Minister of Innovation,Science and Technology,Chief Geoffrey Nnaji, has mandated the constitution of a team of investigators to unravel the remote cause of the Saint Academy building in Jos.
‘We have constituted an investigative team which is headed by Prof.Job Fredrick ,he and his team has promised to do justice as far as the work is concern.Nigerians are waiting anxiously for the outcome of this investigation and this investigation report, the federal government will work seriously with it and it will serve as a template to Plateau State and Nigeria.
He also commiserated with the victims of the collapse school and government of Plateau State.
‘May I also use this opportunity to condole with the government of Plateau State and others that are affected directly or indirectly.I pray that this ugly incident will not repeat itself again.
Proffering solution as to averting future occurrence,he urged builders to be serious and call on the government to set up a team of professionals to carry out integrity test on buildings and punish erring persons adequately.
‘We call on builders to be serious, people should take their jobs serious. The only way out is that we are calling on government to set up a team that will go all out in Plateau State to do what we call integrity test .They should confirm the suitability and the condition of the buildings whether it’s habitable for use while any one that fails the test should be pull down”.
