The Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, has ordered his commissioner of Commerce and Industry Abe Aku to immediately facilitate the electrification of the Satellite Market in Jos.
The Satellite Market which has suffered infrastructural decay in the last few years is begging for urgent attention on the state government.
The governor said the market must be given attention, calling on the commissioner to immediately address the problem of lack of electricity in the market which has scared prospective traders from occupying the vacant shops.
Governor Lalong, who stated this at a media parley with journalists held Saturday evening, said: “What is going in the market? I want you commissioner to immediately address the issue in the market,” he said.
Meanwhile the commissioner told the Governor that the process is ongoing.
Recall that the Satellite Market situated at Rukuba Road in Jos was constructed by the previous administration of Da Jonah Jang to cushion the effect of the plight of traders that were seriously affected by the destruction of the Ultra Modern Jos Main Market.
